The Ahn Trio is bringing their unique musical style and crossover appeal to Auburn University at Montgomery for a free concert on Sept. 27, 7:30 p.m., in Goodwyn Hall auditorium. Admission is free but seating is limited.
Widely celebrated for their creative approach to classical music, the trio is comprised of South Korean-born, Juilliard-trained sisters Lucia, Angella and Maria Ahn on piano, violin, and cello, respectively. Over the course of touring the globe for more than ten years and releasing six albums to critical acclaim, they have become well-known for blending 21st century classical music with sounds more associated with jazz, folk and rock.
"The Ahn Trio was hugely popular with our audiences when they appeared at AUM in 2004," said Mark Benson, head of the university's fine arts department. "Their reputation for great live performances has only grown in the years since. We look forward to a wonderful evening of music making."
The Ahn Trio is brought to Auburn Montgomery by the Weil Family Endowment for Eminence in the Arts and Humanities, established in 1995 in honor of Adolph Weil. Through their boundless creativity and commitment to inspiring the next generation of musicians, the Ahns exemplify the mission of the Weil Fellowship.
